Vernon Subutex

Cathy Verney starts her career in the theatre as part of Eric Ruf’s compagnie d’EDVIN(e). She then performs in various collective pieces on the national stage (L’Avantage du doute…). In 2008, she directs the short film Comme le temps passe which wins the audience award at the Festival de Clermont-Ferrand. The same year she creates the series Hard for Canal+, a comedy on the porn business, and writes and directs seasons 1 and 2 (award for best directing at the Fiction Festival in Rome). Between 2014 and 2016, she writes and directs a number of episodes for seasons 7 and 9 of the series Fais pas çi, fais pas ça for France 2. Then she co-writes and directs the series Vernon Subutex for Canal+, adapted from the novel by Virginie Despentes, which opened the festival de Canneseries in April 2019. In 2016, she runs a workshop for the FEMIS course “Ecriture et creation de series” and in 2018-2019 she chaired the commission of the Fond d’Aide à l’Innovation Audiovisuelle du CNC.
