Filmmaker Futoshi Sato was born on 19 March 1968 in Sendai, Japan. While still studying, he made several remarkable independently produced films, after which he entered the world of cinema, first as an assistant decorator and then as an assistant director. He went on to make commercials, music videos, and documentaries. In 2005 he directed Indian Summer, his first feature, followed by IT Bubble to Neta Onna Tachi (2007) and Girl’s Box Lover’s High (2008). From 2010 to 2011, he directed three seasons of the TV series Majisuka Gakuen for TV Tokyo, as well as other series for TV Asahi. In 2016, he began shooting Fukushima: The Seal of the Sun.
