A musician by training, Bertrand Bonello directed his first feature film, Quelque chose d’organique, which was screened at the Panorama of the Berlin Festival in 1998. His next film, Le Pornographe, was selected for Cannes Critics’ Week in 2001. Tiresia (2003) and De la guerre (2008) followed, as did a remarkable short film, Cindy: The doll is mine. In 2011, L’Apollonide: Souvenirs of the brothel is selected in competition at Cannes. His penultimate film, Saint Laurent, premiered in Cannes in 2014 and received ten Caesar nominations.
