A half-burnt face and a 2-year-old little girl. That’s all Jade has left of her ex who disfigured her with acid. The violence of this “love” relationship is followed by that of other people’s gaze. Confronted with a new reality that she has not chosen, Jade slowely starts to build a new life.

Sacha Polak is a director and screenwriter, who graduated in 2006 from the Netherlands Film and TV Academy. Her two feature films, Hemel (2012) and Zurich (2014) have both been selected in numerous international festivals. Hemel got the FIPRESCI Award (the International Federation of Film Critics) at the Berlinale Forum section and Zurich got the Jury Award at the Berlinale Forum section. Dirty God was presented in January 2019 at the Sundance Film Festival and opened the International Film Festival of Rotterdam 2019.
